Good morning, East Tennessee! Happy Sunday. Grab that cup of coffee and let’s talk about your forecast. Some of us are waking up to rain showers this morning as a cold front slides across the region. That’s the same front that’s going to bring us a much more comfortable stretch of weather heading into the workweek.

So yes—it’s a wet start for parts of the Cumberland Plateau, Southern Valley, and Upper East Tennessee. But hang in there. Later today, things improve quickly, and by this evening, it’s going to start to feel like false fall across the Tennessee Valley and the Smoky Mountains.

Sunday Afternoon: Drier Air is Moving In

  • The bulk of today’s rain happens before noon.

  • A stray shower can’t be ruled out this afternoon, but most of us will be turning drier by mid to late day.

  • Expect some breaks of sunshine later, especially west of Knoxville and across the Plateau.

Highs today: Mid 80s (a little below average).
Dew points: Gradually falling late this afternoon, with that true dry air filtering in by tonight.

The Workweek: A Refreshing Fall Preview
This is where things get really nice. Behind the front, we’ll lock into a stretch of comfortable, fall-like weather all week long.

  • High Temperatures: Upper 70s to low 80s through Thursday.

  • Morning Lows: Dropping into the 40s and 50s—definitely hoodie weather for the kids at the bus stop!

  • Humidity: Dew points in the 40s and 50s. That means crisp, fresh, dry air—something we haven’t felt in a while.

  • Tuesday: A small wave aloft could bring a round of mid and high clouds, but otherwise dry.

  • Wednesday Morning: Could be one of the coolest starts yet, with some locations flirting with near-record lows.
