Another ‘hot’ October day, but a cold front moves in late Halloween. It will bring us some light rain, but not much relief from the warmer weather

THE BIG STORY

Our ridge of high pressure that was has been bringing the heat this week, will slowly break down over the next 24-48 hours. That will allow a cold front to move through the area. This front has a lot of rain to our west, but the moisture is lost as the front moves through East Tennessee. We will cool down for just one day, but then another ridge builds back in through the weekend.

TODAY’S FORECAST

Well… this sure is a wash, rinse and repeat forecast.
We start the day off with some patchy dense fog. The fog burns off and the sun will be shining. Plus the temperatures will rise to above average. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s. Near records expected.
If you don’t have evening plans, make some outdoors. It’s going to be amazing, yet again!

ENJOY THE DAY!

THE REST OF THE STORY

As the cold front moves our way, the clouds, temperatures and wind will increase.
So, we will start Halloween off with some morning dense fog, but we will have more clouds through the day as the cold front moves closer. The wind will begin to pick up, especially in the foothills and mountains of East Tennessee and North Carolina. That will surely knock a bunch of leaves off the trees.
We will be well above average as temperatures soar to the upper 70s to low 80s. The rain looks to hold off until after Trick or Treating, likely closer to 10-midnight. Again, the rain will move through into Friday morning. That will make for an overcast and damp start to our Friday. We won’t see much in the way of rain. Expect the Cumberland Plateau to get up to 1/4″, but the mountains less than a 1/10″. The clouds will be pesky Friday and likely to stick around most of the day.
Another ridge of high pressure builds in this weekend. That will make for perfect football weather on Saturday and fall viewing on Sunday.
Above and beyond that, temperatures looks to be warmer than average and likely about average to maybe slightly above average for precipitation.

A LOOK AHEAD

As mentioned above, we are looking at high pressure and above average temperatures as we round out October and start November! While the Climate Prediction Center has added a small probability of an increase in the rain chances over the next 6-10 and 8-14 days out. However, based on the latest model guidance, I don’t see much in the way of rain heading our way.
We desparately need some rainfall soon!
The good news is that as we head into the winter months, our precipitation will likely increase, based on climatology.
