Happy Wednesday, everybody!
We’re halfway through the work week, and the weekend is right around the corner — and the weather couldn’t be more perfect, even if it is a little on the chilly side.

We’re starting the morning in the 30s and 40s, with a few pockets of 50s sprinkled across the southern valley. Some locations are a bit warmer than yesterday, but overall, it’s still a crisp fall morning. This afternoon, we’ll warm into the low to mid-60s, with a few southern valley spots reaching the upper 60s. That’s about five degrees below average for late October, making for a cool but comfortable day.

By 6 PM, temperatures will be around 63, dropping to the mid-50s by 8 PM. It’ll be another night where you’ll want that light jacket once the sun goes down.

Winds and Airflow
Behind yesterday’s cold front, a westerly wind is setting up across the region. Expect a steady breeze of 5 to 15 mph, with occasional gusts up to 20–25 mph during the day. Winds will ease up this evening as cooler, drier air continues to filter in.

Cool, Dry Pattern Continues
That cold front is now well off the East Coast, but on its backside, we’re seeing that westerly to northwesterly flow ushering in refreshing, dry air. Dew points will stay low through Friday, keeping conditions pleasant and humidity-free.

Those lower dew points also mean chilly mornings ahead. Expect lows in the 30s and 40s for the next several days, with patchy frost possible — especially on the Plateau and across Upper East Tennessee. By Sunday and Monday, dew points begin to climb again as our next system approaches.

Watching the Next Storm System
Out west, a strong Pacific storm is currently working its way through California, bringing rain and mountain snow. That system will cross the Rockies and organize into a stronger storm as it moves east toward the Mississippi River Valley this weekend.

Here at home, we’ll stay dry through Saturday, so any weekend outdoor plans are good to go. By Sunday night into Monday, rain chances start to return — likely in the 20–30% range. It doesn’t look like a washout, but we’ll see more unsettled weather developing into early next week.

Looking Ahead: Pre-Halloween System
A second system could bring rain showers next Wednesday into Thursday, followed by another shot of cold air just in time for Halloween on Friday. Early outlooks suggest trick-or-treat temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s — on the chilly side, so you may want to plan for those costumes with layers underneath.

7-Day Snapshot

  • Wednesday–Saturday: Cool, sunny, and dry

  • Sunday–Tuesday: Increasing clouds and rain chances

  • Late next week: Another system brings rain and cooler air

Highs will stay in the upper 60s to low 70s through the next several days, with temperatures trending near or slightly below average heading into next week.

Enjoy the sunshine and the crisp fall air while it lasts — and keep the jackets handy for those early mornings!
