Good morning and happy Friday — and happy Halloween, everybody!
It’s going to be a beautiful fall day across East Tennessee as our storm system moves out, allowing sunshine to return just in time for the holiday. Skies will gradually clear through the morning, and while it will stay a bit cool, the weather looks picture-perfect for any outdoor plans.

We’re starting the day off chilly, with temperatures in the 30s and 40s across the region and a bit of patchy frost or fog in a few spots. That won’t last long, though — we’ll see plenty of sunshine by midday and afternoon highs topping out in the upper 50s, around 10 degrees below average for this time of year.

For tonight’s trick-or-treat forecast, you’ll definitely need a jacket. Temperatures will be near 57° around 5 p.m., then drop into the upper 40s and low 50s between 7 and 9 p.m. The good news? It’ll be dry and calm — a perfect Halloween evening for families heading out for candy or football fans gearing up for tomorrow’s big game.

Looking ahead, our next storm system arrives late Saturday into Sunday. Clouds will increase during the day Saturday, followed by a few light rain showers late Saturday night into early Sunday morning. Rainfall totals will be light — likely around a tenth of an inch — before clearing out by late Sunday.

If you’re planning to head to Neyland Stadium for the Tennessee–Oklahoma game Saturday night, keep an eye on the radar. Tailgating looks fine, but there’s a chance for a few light showers toward the end of the game. Temperatures will be in the 50s through the evening, falling into the 40s by the final whistle.

Next week, a much drier and warmer weather pattern sets up. Sunshine returns Monday through midweek, and we’ll see a gradual warming trend with highs climbing back into the 60s.

Summary:

  • Friday (Halloween): Sunny and cool, highs near 58°. Evening temps in the 40s–50s.

  • Saturday: Increasing clouds, light showers late.

  • Sunday: Spotty morning rain, clearing by afternoon.

  • Next week: Dry and warmer with sunshine returning.
