As we head into another spring weekend across East Tennessee, the weather continues its seasonal back-and-forth dance. From morning frost and cool afternoons to warmer temperatures and a short-lived cool spell next week, this forecast has everything you need to plan your days. Whether you’re checking in on Knoxville weather, planning a scenic drive through Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg, or heading to the mountains, here’s what you can expect over the next several days.
SATURDAY: A FROSTY START, THEN SUNSHINE
Saturday starts off chilly across East Tennessee with widespread morning frost, especially in valleys and rural areas. Patchy clouds will linger through the early part of the day, but expect clearing skies by midday. Despite the sunshine, temperatures will stay on the cooler side, with highs only reaching the mid to upper 50s, which is well below average for mid-April.
If you’re out and about in Knoxville, Chattanooga, or up in Crossville, it’ll be a great day for a light jacket and some sunshine. The afternoon will feel pleasant with light winds and a crisp, spring feel in the air. Take advantage of the dry conditions to enjoy outdoor activities like yard work, gardening, or a visit to the Great Smoky Mountains.
SUNDAY: A TASTE OF SPRING RETURNS
By Sunday, we shift gears as warmer air begins to move in. Highs will reach the upper 60s, getting us much closer to the seasonal average for this time of year. Sunshine dominates again, and the overall setup will be perfect for a spring Sunday outdoors—picnics, hikes, and walks around town are all great options.
The warming trend will be most noticeable in cities like Knoxville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg, where valley locations warm more efficiently under sunshine and a light southerly breeze.

MONDAY: EARLY WEEK WARMTH
Monday brings a more dramatic warm-up thanks to a ridge of high pressure building in across the Southeast. High temperatures will push into the upper 70s, making it feel more like late spring or even early summer.
It will be a warm and breezy day, ideal for getting outside and soaking in some sunshine. If you’re planning errands or getting back into the workweek routine, it’ll feel like a noticeable jump in temperatures compared to the weekend.
MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY: A WEAK COLD FRONT
A cold front moves through Monday night into early Tuesday morning, but it won’t have a major impact. Expect less than a quarter inch of rain, and most of that will fall overnight, making for minimal disruption to your daytime activities.
By Tuesday, skies will begin to clear again, and we’ll head into a brief period of cooler, drier weather.
TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY: BELOW AVERAGE AGAIN
With the front moving out, a cooler air mass settles in across East Tennessee. Expect highs in the low to mid 60s for Knoxville, Chattanooga, and surrounding areas through the middle of the week. Morning lows could dip into the 30s and 40s, which may bring another round of patchy frost for rural and elevated areas, especially Wednesday morning.
This period will feel more like early spring again, but it will be short-lived.

LOOKING AHEAD: WARMING UP FOR EASTER WEEKEND
The good news for those making plans for Easter weekend is that the warmer air returns by Friday and into the holiday weekend. While long-range forecasts can shift slightly, current trends suggest temperatures rising back into the upper 60s to low 70s with a drier setup taking shape.
It’s still a little early to pinpoint exact Easter Sunday weather, but signs are pointing toward pleasant and warm conditions, which will be great for family gatherings, egg hunts, and travel.
