Good morning and happy Saturday, East Tennessee!
Grab that cup of coffee, throw on your orange, and get ready — it’s game day, baby! I’ve got the orange suit ready to go for kickoff at 4:15 this afternoon, and let me tell you, the weather could not be more perfect for football, tailgating, or just soaking up a classic East Tennessee fall weekend.

Chilly Start, Perfect Afternoon Ahead, But Hot in the Direct Sunlight
We started off the morning chilly again — most spots were in the 40s and low 50s, just a few degrees warmer than yesterday morning. The air is crisp, calm, and completely fall-like.

As we move through the day, we’ll warm nicely into the mid-70s, and with plenty of sunshine in the forecast, it’s going to feel fantastic outside.

If you’re heading to Neyland Stadium, here’s what you can expect:

  • Tailgating (Morning–Noon): Sunshine and cool air — around 70° by lunchtime

  • Kickoff (4:15 PM): 75° and sunny

  • Evening (After the game): Dropping into the 60s, perfect for grilling or gathering around a fire pit

Now, here’s a little heads up — if you’re sitting in the east side stands, it’ll feel a lot warmer in that direct sunlight. Add about 10–15 degrees to the air temperature. So while the thermometer says 75°, it’ll feel more like the mid- to upper 80sin the sunshine.

And yes, the Witchers will be down there at the game, so if you spot us, come say hi!

Weather Headlines
Let’s break down the big picture:

  • A coastal low spinning near Georgia and the Carolinas may toss a few clouds our way today, but it stays well to our southeast.

  • High pressure out of Texas is slowly nudging eastward — and that’s the main reason we’re enjoying this beautiful stretch of dry, stable weather.

  • Rain chances remain near zero across the entire region, not just for today, but likely through the next 7–10 days.

If you’re traveling to the Southeast coast this weekend — especially Georgia or the Carolinas — you may run into some rain showers associated with that low-pressure system. But here in East Tennessee? Nothing but sunshine and a few passing clouds.

The Big Picture Pattern
Looking from above, you can see that coastal low sliding north along the Atlantic seaboard while a strong ridge of high pressure expands eastward from Texas into the Tennessee Valley.

That ridge will continue to build over us through Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, keeping our skies mostly clear and our weather pattern completely dry.

If you check your futurecast radar, there’s really not much to see — just a few thin, mid- to high-level clouds drifting through today and tonight. Otherwise, it’s dry, calm, and comfortable all weekend long.

Saturday Forecast Breakdown

  • Morning: Chilly start in the 40s & 50s

  • Afternoon: Mostly sunny, a few clouds south, highs in the mid-70s

  • Evening: Clear and cool, 60s after sunset

  • Wind: Light and variable

  • Rain: None — zero, zilch, nada

So if you’re heading out to the pumpkin patch, picking apples, hitting Dollywood, or spending the day in the Smokies, this is your day. It’s the kind of weather that makes fall in East Tennessee unbeatable.

7 Day Outlook
Looking ahead, that ridge of high pressure will continue to keep us dry through most of next week. Temperatures will slowly warm back above average, into the upper 70s and low 80s by Monday and Tuesday.

By midweek, a weak trough may try to dip south, but it doesn’t appear to bring any significant rain our way. Even the Climate Prediction Center is calling for above-average temperatures and below-average precipitation through mid-October.

7-Day Highlights:

  • Saturday: Sunny and 75°, perfect game day weather

  • Sunday: Sunny, upper 70s

  • Monday–Tuesday: Warming trend, highs near 80°

  • Midweek: Still dry, warm afternoons, cool nights

  • Next Weekend: Continued sunshine, maybe a few more clouds, but still dry

Saturday Night Plans
With clear skies and light winds tonight, it’s going to be perfect for:

  • Backyard fire pits

  • Post-game grilling

  • Stargazing or those last-minute fall photos

And if you’re camping in the Smokies or the foothills, expect temperatures to dip into the 40s overnight, so bring an extra blanket!

Quick Recap

  • Chilly start, beautiful afternoon

  • Sunshine dominates, highs mid-70s

  • Rain-free through next week

  • Perfect weather for football, pumpkin patches, and hiking

  • Warming trend early next week with a strong ridge of high pressure
